ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE

Not just about posture or breathing as many people think, the Alexander Technique is really about how we use ourselves moment by moment in all our activities. Is this conscious or unconscious ?

Alexander said:

"It has not been realised that the influence of the manner of use is a constant one upon the general functioning of the organism in every reaction and during every moment of life and that this influence can be a harmful or a beneficial one"

This influence of this "universal constant" is inescapable.

The Alexander Technique seeks
to discover and modify
our harmful habitual habits of use
(impossible not to have with our education system)
and to reeducate our sensory mechanisms
to function with a much more accurate understanding
of how we work as moving thinking feeling systems.

Anatomist Professor G. E. Coghill said,

"Mr Alexander's method lays hold of the individual as a whole, as a self vitalizing agent. He reconditions and reeducates the reflex mechanisms and brings their habits into normal relation with the functions of organisms as a whole. I regard his methods as thoroughly scientific and educationally sound"

Learning the Alexander Technique can be an interesting and enjoyable experience. It also makes your body feel very good and takes a lot of the strain and tension out of your system. You usually feel lighter, easier, taller, more open and you can learn to bring this about for yourself as an ongoing process. After a number of lessons many people begin to report interesting changes in many different aspects of their life. You really become much more of yourself than you possible imagined existed.

You will learn to think critically about the key issues that affect Humanity and the Earth today, and discover your own capacity to work with others to make a difference.
