SOCIAL ECOLOGY MEETING
A meeting of the Social Ecology "group" was held last Wednesday the 28th June 2000.

Present : Julie Ankers, Briony Edwards, Prue Fairlie, Judy Steele, David Wright and John Zulaikha.

IN SHORT
We felt the event held at the Balmain Town Hall the evening of Friday 26th May, was a success and all agreed to stage another about one month after the Residential. We have a few exciting ideas to entertain, sustain and entice - details to be announced at the Residential. Suggestions and ideas will be requested, and/or re-formulated as time permits. Naturally, written information will be appreciated or indeed electronic via email.

CORE ISSUES
We felt the forming of an "Alumni Association" as such would be somewhat restrictive to undergraduates and was quite contrary to the thread of SE. Loosely put, we'd rather an open (or revolving) door with some vision and responsibility. All of which felt quite embrionic.

Q. Should the group be formalised into a recognised institutional structure? This would automatically involve the election of office bearers, and acknowledged responsibility, especially as regards the collection and spending of monies, banking and accountability. We are looking into it.

RESIDENTIAL
Keep an ear out for an announcement
(probably Sunday morning) welcoming new and active participants, future members, interest groups and suggestions.

IN SEARCH OF/FOR THE PERFECT DEFINITION
"What does it mean to be a Social Ecologist?"
Social Ecologists are..?
Social Ecology is..?

We develop.. we vision.. new ways to uncover the unseen,
to trailblaze the process of change,
acknowledging the mystery
and the interconnectedness, complexity and chaos
of the individual, society and environment,
the cycling of life.
